M50 Toll Bridge Charges on Hire Trucks in Dublin

Our attempt to use the tag system on our rental vans did not go well. The technology shortcomings presented by Etrip were impossible to work with. The system was very slow to update and ustable. The one advantage of this system for our hire customers was the price, it is a cheaper system and we passed the savings on. The second limitation of the tag system on the vehicle was that the tags themselves we getting taken out of our rental trucks. Many drivers assumed that the tags were the property of their company. These factors made the process of accuratly tracking and billing customers for the M50 bridge in Dublin very cumbersome.

So After 12 months of trying to work the tag system, we have come to the conclusion that it is unworkable for hire vans. We have switched all our spot hire vehicles to the video tag system, this costs the customer more than before but it only takes a couple of seconds to check a customers trips accross the M50.

The cost for using the toll bridge are €4.20 per trip for a van and €5.50 for a light truck.

If you are taking a hire truck from us in Dublin, do not pay for your toll bridge use while you have the van or truck, you will be invoiced upon return.
